The Internal Control unit of the Ministry of Interior found failures by 39 police officers in handling domestic violence reports in the case of Ivana Jovanovska from Taftalize.

The Organized Crime and Corruption Prosecution (OJO GOKK) will investigate how officers responded to domestic violence reports filed by Jovanovska against her former partner Stojance Jovanovski.

The Ombudsman called for systemic measures - families at risk of violence should be under supervision, and police should actively prevent violence rather than only responding after a report. The case sparked a broad public debate about the effectiveness of institutional protection for domestic violence victims.

The Internal Control report detailed the specific failures of each of the 39 officers, pointing to systemic problems in how police handle domestic violence reports.
