Macedonia commemorated 83 years since the deportation of 7,144 Macedonian Jews to the Nazi death camp Treblinka. On March 11, 1943, under Bulgarian occupation authority, Macedonian Jews were gathered and sent to the final solution of the Nazi authorities.

Parliamentary delegations laid flowers at the victims' monuments, and a commemoration was held in Štip. The city of Štip was one of the main centers from which Macedonian Jews were deported.

The tragedy of Macedonian Jews represents one of the darkest periods in the country's history. Of the 7,144 deported Jews, only a handful survived to bear witness to the atrocities.

The commemoration of the anniversary is a reminder that history must be remembered and that crimes against humanity must not be forgotten.
