Araghchi: Talks with the US were among the most serious ever - Iran and America close to a deal?

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the preliminary talks with American representatives were "among the most serious we have ever had," opening space for cautious optimism about a possible agreement on Iran's nuclear program. The talks took place in Oman.

Analysts are following the signals from both sides with guarded hope. US Vice President JD Vance stated that "there is no chance America will be drawn into a multi-year war in the Middle East," signaling that diplomacy remains the priority.

However, the nuclear negotiations remain complex. American officials insist on the "dismantlement of Iranian nuclear facilities," while Iran demands security guarantees and the lifting of sanctions. The two sides have not yet agreed on the key issues.

Iran has defended its right to nuclear activities for "peaceful purposes" for decades, while Western powers claim the program is closer to creating a weapon. The failure of the 2015 JCPOA deal and the American withdrawal in 2018 left the nuclear crisis unresolved, and the recent negotiations in Geneva may represent a new chance for a diplomatic breakthrough.
