The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) confirmed that last night there was an attempted arson at a building belonging to the Jewish Community in Macedonia, as well as at the synagogue in Skopje.
The Ministry stated that police teams were immediately dispatched to the scene following the report and undertook activities to establish the circumstances and identify the perpetrators.
During the inspection, a fuel canister was found in the courtyard of the religious building, indicating intent to start a fire. Visible burn marks were observed on the entrance door.
Information about the incident was also shared by the Embassy of Israel in North Macedonia, which published photographs and video footage from the scene, including images showing two individuals jumping over the fence and spraying flammable liquid.
The competent authorities announced that the investigation is ongoing and that all necessary measures will be taken to fully resolve the case. The incident drew strong condemnation from both the domestic and international public.
