The Israeli private intelligence firm "Black Cube" has been accused of meddling in Slovenia's elections, Politico reports. The scandal disrupted pre-election calculations and caused a political upheaval.

Opposition leader Janez Jansha admitted to meeting with Israeli agents, although he denied any involvement in espionage operations. Slovenian Prime Minister Golob accused that this was an attempt to influence the democratic process.

Three suspicious flights of Israeli operatives to Ljubljana were registered by intelligence services. Leaked photos from secret meetings further fueled the scandal, and the investigation uncovered links to companies that turned out not to exist.

The case is not isolated - "Black Cube" was previously linked to controversial operations in other European countries. Analysts assess that the scandal has significantly weakened the right-wing bloc just before the elections.
