American journalist Tucker Carlson revealed new details about the people who, according to multiple sources, have had enormous influence on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for years. At the center of the story is Hollywood producer and billionaire Arnon Milchan.
According to Israeli journalist and political analyst Ravi Dreicher, Netanyahu has relied for years on a network of powerful and well-connected people around the world. Milchan particularly stood out in this network - his name has long been associated with exceptional access to the highest government officials.
Although he had lived and worked in the US for years, Milchan remained firmly connected to Israel and specifically to Netanyahu. In political and business circles, it was known that access to the Israeli premier was most easily obtained through Milchan.
Former Israeli Finance Minister Yair Lapid claimed that Netanyahu personally requested special tax treatment for Milchan. "This was the only case where Netanyahu personally asked me for such a measure," Lapid said.
The most sensitive part concerns claims that Milchan decades ago helped Israel procure equipment for its nuclear program. Milchan himself publicly described that period: "You know how it is when you're twenty years old and the state lets you live like James Bond? That's action, excitement."
Carlson raised this topic to highlight how much power informal figures outside institutions can wield when positioned close to centers of decision-making.
