An 11-year-old child was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle on a main boulevard in the city of Tetovo. The child was rushed to the hospital where medical teams are providing emergency treatment.
According to police reports, the incident occurred during daytime hours when the child was attempting to cross the boulevard. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Authorities are working to establish the exact circumstances of the accident.
The incident has reignited concerns about pedestrian safety in Tetovo, particularly around areas frequented by children. Local residents and parents have repeatedly called for improved traffic infrastructure including better crosswalks, speed bumps, and traffic signals on the busy boulevard.
City officials expressed concern and pledged to review safety measures along the stretch of road where the accident occurred. Traffic safety advocates noted that such incidents are tragically common in Macedonian cities where rapid urbanization has outpaced the development of pedestrian-friendly infrastructure.
