China offered Taiwan energy security in exchange for unification with Beijing, exploiting the global energy crisis caused by the Middle East conflict.

The spokesperson of China's Taiwan Affairs Office, Chen Binhua, stated: "We are prepared to provide stable and reliable energy and resource security for the Taiwanese people, so they can live a better life."

The offer comes at a time when global energy markets are under intense pressure, and energy supply is becoming a key geopolitical issue. Taiwan previously imported about one-third of its liquefied natural gas from Qatar, whose facilities are now under threat.

Authorities in Taipei immediately responded that they have already secured alternative supply sources for the coming months, including deliveries from the United States, aiming to mitigate the consequences of potential disruptions.

Beijing's move further escalates tensions in the region, as energy security becomes a powerful tool for political pressure in China-Taiwan relations.
