The Basic Court in Veles suspended criminal proceedings against former judge Lazar Nanev after the public prosecutor withdrew the charges. Nanev had been charged with "reckless conduct in office."
The Judicial Council dismissed him in October 2024 over 97 phone contacts with an accused person in a case he was handling. Complaints of improper pressure were also filed against him.
The withdrawal of charges by the prosecution marks the end of criminal proceedings, although the Judicial Council's decision to dismiss him remains in effect.
