Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić remains hospitalised at the Clinical Centre of Serbia due to bilateral pneumonia. Upon admission, he was intubated and placed on mechanical ventilation, and the medical team has stated that his condition is stable, though without significant improvement.
Doctors announced it is too early to give a prognosis while the patient is on a ventilator. "The condition can change on an hourly basis; doctors are monitoring all parameters and applying modern therapy together with additional diagnostic procedures," the medical team stated. Precise prognoses can only be expected once the patient has been weaned off the ventilator.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić expressed deep concern about Dačić's condition. In a statement made during an official visit to Kazakhstan, Vučić emphasised: "There is no change in his condition, which is good, but we are expecting faster changes. We still cannot confirm — we fear there is something else that we cannot see."
The president clarified that he is in constant contact with the health minister, but has refrained from disturbing the medical team directly. He announced that he will visit the hospital as soon as he returns to Belgrade.
Ivica Dačić is a long-standing representative of the Socialist Party of Serbia and one of the most recognisable politicians in the country. His hospitalisation has attracted widespread media attention and expressions of support from politicians across the region.
