The director of the State Agricultural Inspectorate, Vase Anakiev, was arrested with 50,000 euros while accepting a bribe, and reportedly demanded a total of 100,000 euros to "resolve the problem."

The Ministry of Interior operation was conducted under the coordination of a public prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office for Prosecuting Organized Crime and Corruption (GOKK). Anakiev has been placed in 30-day detention.

According to sources close to the investigation, Anakiev had been under surveillance for a long time before being caught in the act. The prosecution confirmed that there is reasonable suspicion of criminal offenses of a corrupt nature.

SDSM demanded a thorough investigation of the case, calling on institutions to operate without selectivity. The Socialist Party, meanwhile, reacted to the arrest, calling for equal treatment for all.

The case attracted public attention as the latest in a series of anti-corruption actions targeting high-ranking officials in the state administration.
