A doctor from Brčko buried the bones of Srebrenica genocide victims in his yard, but there will be no investigation - both competent prosecutors' offices concluded that the statute of limitations has expired.

Skeletal remains found in the yard of Dr. Nebojša Mraović were identified as belonging to genocide victims. Both the BiH and Brčko District prosecutors concluded that criminal proceedings cannot be opened.

The Association of Families of Missing Bosniaks condemned the decision as shameful. President Sead Golić said it is "unforgivable for the prosecutor's office" and that war crimes should not have statutes of limitations. The doctor's former wife filed an appeal, still pending.

Mraović continues to practice medicine and received an orthopaedic licence in December 2024. He claims he used the bones for "planning operations."
