A strong earthquake measuring up to 5.8 on the Richter scale struck the border region between Greece and Albania. The earthquake was recorded in the early morning hours, with its epicenter in the Arta region of Greece, at a depth of approximately 5 to 10 kilometers.

The tremor was felt across a wide area of the Balkans — it was registered at monitoring stations in Bulgaria, approximately 300 kilometers from the epicenter. Connections to settlements in western Macedonia were also mentioned, although no specific damage reports from Macedonia arrived.

Initial reports contain no information about casualties or major material damage. Greek authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported. Earthquakes in this part of the Balkans are not uncommon — the Arta region and western Greece as a whole lie in a seismically active zone.
