A fire on the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier injured multiple sailors and destroyed approximately 100 beds on the vessel. After nine months deployed in the Red Sea, the ship is now heading to Crete for urgent repairs.

Over 200 sailors were treated for smoke inhalation during the incident. The fire took more than 30 hours to extinguish. Additionally, the ship with its 4,000-member crew has been facing serious sewage problems.

Senator Warner sharply criticized the extended deployment of the vessel, emphasizing that the crew has been pushed to the edge of their physical and mental limits.
