Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski announced that fuel prices will be reduced starting next week. According to the announcements, diesel will drop by 2.5 denars per liter, while Eurosuper 95 and Eurosuper 98 gasoline will be lower by 1.5 denars per liter.

The announcement was made at a press conference before the Energy Regulatory Commission, which is expected to set the new retail prices at its next session. Mickoski emphasized that the state ensures stable and timely energy supply for citizens.

The Prime Minister pointed out that Macedonia has among the lowest fuel prices in the region, which is why a large number of citizens from neighboring countries come to refuel in the country. However, he stressed that no restrictions on the sale of petroleum products are planned, as gas stations supply up to two million liters of fuel daily.

Additionally, the state oil company OKTA maintains a discount of 2 denars for its partners, which further affects the final retail prices.

Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski added that the government has taken measures to stabilize the market since the beginning of the crisis, emphasizing that inflation in the country is the fifth lowest in Europe. He announced that it will be known on Tuesday whether and by how much basic food products have become more expensive, and if speculative market behavior is identified, those responsible will be sanctioned.
