The government decided at an emergency session to cut fuel VAT from 18% to 10%. The measure takes effect at midnight and will last two weeks. The state thereby sacrifices approximately 7 denars per liter, amounting to roughly 3 million EUR over the two-week period.
Prime Minister Mickoski expects price stability. Additional measures such as excise duties and margins are available should the crisis deepen. The fuel price commission is deciding on new prices - gasoline rises by 6.5 denars and diesel by 10.5 denars per liter.
