The Greek government was reshuffled after a scandal involving agricultural subsidy fraud with EU funds. Three ministers resigned, and EU chief prosecutor Laura Kovesi requested the removal of parliamentary immunity for 11 Greek MPs.

The scandal stems from an investigation by the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) into alleged subsidy fraud through Greece's OPECEPE agency, relating to events in 2021 under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis's government.

Kovesi expressed frustration with Greece's constitution granting immunity to ministers: "In this case, we cannot obtain evidence unless the constitution is changed."

The scandal erupted during an intense pre-election period, significantly complicating the political landscape for the ruling party.
