The higher education law has received its final corrections and will soon begin the adoption procedure, announced Education Minister Vesna Janevska.

Key changes include a reduced number of required scientific publications for second and third cycle studies, reduced government representation in supervisory bodies to one member, and maintaining standards for humanities and social sciences using Scopus indexing.

Web of Science remains an acceptable alternative database, and a new journal ranking system will be established by the National Council for Higher Education for use in selecting teaching staff.

"We have made significant changes that we believe are appropriately proposed," said Janevska, emphasizing that the modifications improve the legislation without compromising institutional autonomy. The revised draft remains open for additional comments before entering government procedure.
