Hungary has issued a sharp warning to its allies after a drone attack struck a compressor station on the Turkish Stream natural gas pipeline, declaring that any attack on the pipeline infrastructure constitutes an attack on a NATO member state.

A total of 22 drones hit the compressor station in what Hungarian officials described as a deliberate attempt to disrupt energy supplies to Central and Southern Europe. Budapest pointed the finger squarely at Ukraine, accusing Kyiv of endangering the energy security of millions of European citizens.

The Turkish Stream pipeline is a critical energy corridor for Hungary and several other European nations that remain dependent on Russian gas. The attack has raised alarm bells across the continent about the vulnerability of energy infrastructure during the ongoing conflicts.

Hungarian officials argued that the attack demonstrates the broader risks of the Ukraine conflict spilling over into areas that directly affect NATO members. The incident has reignited debate within the alliance about the balance between supporting Ukraine and protecting the energy interests of member states, with Budapest increasingly vocal in its criticism of what it sees as a one-sided approach to the conflict.
