Stojanche Jovanovski, accused of driving his wife Ivana to jump from the sixth floor together with their six-year-old daughter, was smirking in the courtroom while prosecutor Adela Bojchevikj read the details of the abuse.
The prosecution described a long history of physical and psychological violence. Stojanche systematically beat, insulted and threatened Ivana, at one point rendering her unconscious. The violence continued until the moment of the tragedy.
When the court asked if he considered himself guilty, Jovanovski changed his emotions and began to cry. The trial is attracting enormous public attention given the gravity of the charges and the tragic outcome of the case.
The defendant faces serious criminal charges of inciting suicide and domestic violence. The trial continues with witness hearings and the presentation of evidence.
