Minor Earthquake Early This Morning Near Tetovo: No Material Damage

In the early morning hours of 3 March 2026, seismologists registered an earthquake near Tetovo. The tremor of magnitude 2.2 on the Richter scale occurred at 05:21, with its epicentre located approximately 9 km southwest of Tetovo, in the western part of Macedonia.

The focal depth was 5 km, which is relatively shallow. The event was confirmed by the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC). An earthquake of this magnitude typically does not cause material damage, but may be felt by residents in the immediate vicinity of the epicentre.

At the time of reporting, no damage to property or injured persons had been recorded. Seismic activity in western Macedonia has been known for some time, and tremors of similar magnitude are periodically registered in the region.
