Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly proposed a strategy aimed at encouraging mass popular protests inside Iran as part of the broader military campaign against Tehran. However, President Donald Trump rejected the plan, opting for a different approach.

According to sources familiar with the discussions, Netanyahu argued that the Iranian population was ripe for revolt given economic hardships and war fatigue, and that a coordinated information campaign could trigger a popular uprising that would weaken the regime from within.

Trump reportedly pushed back, expressing concern that such a strategy could backfire and strengthen the regime's grip by rallying nationalist sentiment. The US president preferred to maintain military pressure while leaving diplomatic channels open for a negotiated settlement.

The disagreement highlights growing tensions between Washington and Jerusalem over the strategic objectives of the campaign against Iran. While Israel has pushed for maximum pressure aimed at regime change, the US has maintained a more cautious position focused on limiting Iran's military capabilities without necessarily toppling the government.
