North Korea launched multiple ballistic missiles toward the sea off its eastern coast, the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea reported.

The projectiles were fired around 8:50 AM from the Wonsan area and traveled approximately 240 kilometers before falling into the sea. South Korean and American authorities are conducting a detailed analysis of the launch.

The day before, another suspected ballistic missile was detected near Pyongyang.

The office of the South Korean president convened an emergency session of the National Security Council, characterizing the launches as provocations that violate UN Security Council resolutions. The authorities demanded that Pyongyang cease such testing.

According to South Korean agency Yonhap, the missile launched on Tuesday showed irregularities in its early phase and disappeared from radar, indicating a possible failure.

A senior North Korean official stated that Seoul should not expect improved relations, claiming that "the identity of the Republic of Korea as the most hostile state" cannot be changed.
