Oman"s Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi directed sharp criticism at American leadership in a text published in The Economist, claiming that the United States has "lost control" over its own foreign policy.

Albusaidi claims that Iran "had no choice" in its response, after Israel and the US resumed military strikes on February 28, just hours after concrete negotiations on Iran"s nuclear program.

Over nine months, the two sides were close to reaching an agreement on the nuclear program, but the military strikes undermined peace prospects. The Omani diplomat warns that the conflict is destabilizing the entire Persian Gulf region, threatening the economic model of neighboring states.

Maritime disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz are increasing energy costs worldwide. Albusaidi identifies the fundamental error: entering this war is a strategic mistake, as neither Israel nor the US can realistically achieve their goals without long-term military engagement.

He calls for renewed negotiations linked to broader regional frameworks that would address nuclear energy and security guarantees.
