Poland's foreign affairs chief Radosław Sikorski stated today that Polish soldiers will not be involved in the US-Israeli attack on Iran, and that the US missile defense base in Redzikowo in northern Poland can be used exclusively to intercept ballistic missiles if Iran launches them directly at the US or Europe.

"Polish and American interests are similar, they largely overlap, but they are not the same in everything," Sikorski said in an interview for the Polish newspaper "Rzeczpospolita", emphasizing that Poland has no intention of becoming involved in the war between Israel and the US against Iran.

Sikorski stated that there are no plans for Poland to send its soldiers and that there are no bases that the US could request to use for attacks against Iran, while the Redzikowo base can only be used to intercept missiles with which Iran might potentially target the US and Europe.

"In the agreements I negotiated and signed, that base is meant to detect and destroy missiles that would threaten Europe and the US. Iran will not be sending such missiles. The Redzikowo base was built over many years for a hypothetical threat that has not materialized. Thank God," Sikorski said.

Sikorski noted that Poland's President Karol Nawrocki, as supreme commander of the armed forces, told Poland's main ally - the US - that he will not allow the Polish army to join the war against Iran.
