The „Safe City“ project is showing visible results - since the beginning of the year, the number of traffic accidents in Macedonia has been reduced by nearly 10 percent.
In the January-February 2026 period, a total of 929 traffic accidents were registered, which is 9.8 percent less than the same period in 2025 when 1,030 accidents were recorded.
From the project's launch in February to the beginning of April, the system registered a total of 46,970 offenders - an alarming number for the traffic culture on Macedonian streets. As many as 45,001 of them were for speeding.
Besides speeding violations, the system also registered 1,679 offenders for driving with an expired driver's license and 290 for running a red light.
The project will soon be implemented in Ohrid and Strumica as well, where cameras for digital traffic control are already being installed.
