US President Donald Trump during an investment forum in Miami declared that "Cuba is next", adding: "But pretend I did not say that."

Trump highlighted recent military successes in Venezuela and operations against Iran, suggesting Cuba could become the next target of American military operations.

The context is significant - Venezuela recently cut oil shipments to Cuba under American pressure, following January operations that removed Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. The Cuban electrical grid and transportation system are heavily dependent on imported oil, making the island vulnerable.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel confirmed that negotiations with the US are underway to prevent a potential military conflict. Trump had previously suggested a possible "friendly takeover," but later indicated such action might not remain friendly.
