US President Donald Trump warned that NATO faces a "very poor future" if member states refuse to help secure free passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump stressed that countries using this strategic maritime route for oil transport must participate in its protection, with American support. "We cannot carry this burden alone," the president said.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical transport corridors, through which a massive share of global energy supplies from the Persian Gulf passes.

The president noted that the United States is prepared to help allies secure the maritime route but expects more active participation from countries with direct interests in maintaining open navigation.

Trump additionally signaled expectations for Chinese support, highlighting Beijing's status as a major oil importer from the Persian Gulf region. These statements come at a time when tensions surrounding Iran continue to shake global markets.
