Turkey has intercepted 275 suspicious floating objects in the Black Sea since the start of the war in Ukraine in March 2022, including submarines, unmanned aircraft and naval drones.

Turkish military forces are actively patrolling Black Sea waters to protect commercial shipping lanes and prevent military objects from entering Turkish territorial waters.

The intensified surveillance is the result of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has turned the Black Sea into a zone of heightened military activity. Turkey, as a NATO member and the country controlling the Bosphorus, plays a key role in maintaining maritime security in the region.

The number of 275 intercepted objects points to the intensity of activities in these waters, where both sides in the conflict use various types of naval assets for reconnaissance and attack.
