Serbian security forces discovered four kilograms of explosives near the TurkStream gas pipeline at Kanizha, in the northern part of Vojvodina. The operation, which involved police special units, military police, drones and search dogs, was conducted early in the morning.

The explosives were found in backpacks, along with detonators and activation equipment, near the Velebit station - approximately 20 kilometers from the main gas junction. According to security services, the markings on the explosives indicate American manufacture.

The director of the Military Security Agency (VBA) Djuro Jovanovic said the operation was "exceptionally successful" and followed months of intelligence work. "We had information that a militarily capable migrant would attempt to sabotage the gas infrastructure," he explained.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic confirmed the discovery and immediately contacted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. Orban convened an emergency session of the Defense Council in response.

According to sources, three days earlier an attempted drone attack on the same pipeline was also prevented. Several roads between the villages of Tresnjevac, Vojvoda Zimonjic and Velebit were blocked during the operation.

This incident raises questions about the security of critical energy infrastructure in the Balkans, particularly the pipeline connecting Serbia and Hungary with Russian gas.
