Ukrainian political activist and former political prisoner Volodymyr Balukh claims he was beaten at a military recruitment center in Kyiv. MPs Volodymyr Ariev and Sofia Fedina reported the incident on social media, suggesting the attack was politically motivated.

According to his testimony, men in military uniforms forcibly put him in a van and took him to the recruitment center. Balukh reported bruises on his chest and shoulder. As a person with a disability, he expressed concern about the treatment he received.

Balukh was previously detained by Russian authorities in December 2016 on weapons charges and spent nearly four years in prison before being released in September 2019 as part of a prisoner exchange. He is known for his pro-Ukrainian activism during the Russian occupation of Crimea.

The Kyiv recruitment and social support center denied the accusations, claiming that "military personnel did not take any illegal actions." The center announced it had launched an internal investigation to clarify the circumstances.
