After 11 years of waiting, reconstruction of the Universal Hall in Skopje is finally beginning, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced.

The State Commission for Appeals in Public Procurement rejected the last complaint and confirmed the winning bidder on March 23, 2026, removing the last legal obstacle for the start of works.

The reconstruction will be carried out on a turnkey basis, with completion planned for December 2027. The project is part of Skopje's preparations for the title of European Capital of Culture 2028.

"Skopje will finally get a modern and representative cultural institution that will host top concerts and festivals. This is an investment in the future of Macedonian culture," the Ministry stated.

The renovated hall will serve as a venue for theater performances, concerts, festivals, and other cultural events, supporting Macedonian artists and audiences.
