Zelensky requests energy truce for Easter - Kremlin responds coldly

The Kremlin coldly responded to Ukraine's proposal for an "energy truce" during the Easter holidays, stating that they had not seen a detailed ceasefire proposal and calling for a comprehensive peace deal.

President Volodymyr Zelensky had previously said that Ukrainian allies had "signaled" a possible reduction in long-range strikes on Russia's oil sector due to rising global energy prices. Zelensky said Ukraine was prepared to do so if Russia stopped attacking Ukrainian energy infrastructure.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was clear: "In Zelensky's statements that we have read, we did not see a clearly formulated initiative for an Easter truce." He added that Zelensky must take responsibility and make appropriate decisions for achieving peace, not just a truce.

Peskov warned that the price of peace for Kyiv will rise the longer Zelensky delays, signaling that Moscow is not interested in temporary solutions but demands full capitulation of Ukrainian positions.
