SDSM MP Fatmir Bitići announced his candidacy for membership in the inquiry commission on the Kočani tragedy, stating: "If nobody volunteers, I am volunteering - it is time for the commission to start functioning."
Bitići emphasized that SDSM does not shy away from difficult discussions, including the modular hospital case. As a parent, he said, he feels a responsibility to establish accountability and identify the failures related to the tragedy.
"It is important for society to show courage and responsibility, allowing the process to reach its conclusion," Bitići stated. His decision has already helped the party leadership, as he becomes one of the two required candidates.
The formation of the inquiry commission for Kočani has been long awaited, and until now no MP had publicly volunteered for membership.
