A magnitude 5.5 Richter earthquake struck central Turkey, with its epicenter 46 kilometers north of the city of Tokat, at a depth of 6.4 kilometers. The tremor occurred at 3:35 a.m. local time.

Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority AFAD confirmed the quake was felt in several municipalities. There are no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
