Eurostat: A third of online shoppers in the EU reported difficulties, Macedonia below European average

Nearly a third (35.4%) of online shoppers in the European Union encountered difficulties when ordering through websites or mobile applications, Eurostat data for 2025 show. In Macedonia, 29.41% of shoppers reported problems with digital purchases.

Among EU countries, the highest share of consumers with difficulties was recorded in Malta (64%), the Netherlands (57.9%), and Luxembourg (51.4%). The fewest problems are reported by shoppers in Portugal (4.5%), Greece (10.6%), and Latvia (13.3%).

Slow delivery is the most common problem - nearly a fifth (19.9%) of respondents complained that parcels arrived later than expected. In second place is a difficult-to-use or slow website (11.5%), and in third place - delivery of the wrong or damaged goods (10.4%).
