Powerful explosions shook Dubai early in the morning, and thick smoke rose over the city's business center after debris from an intercepted projectile fell into an industrial zone, local authorities reported.

A fire broke out in the Al Quoz district. Dubai's Government Media Office announced on social media that the incident occurred after parts of a successfully intercepted projectile fell onto a building in the central part of the city. "A minor incident on the facade of a building in the central area of Dubai caused by debris from a successful interception," reads the official report, adding that there are no reported injuries.

The thick smoke was visible over a large part of the city, including the area of the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel. Authorities linked the incident to the wider conflict between the US and Iran that began on February 28.
