Intelligence: Iran has no plans to open the Strait of Hormuz - Trump says it would be easy

American intelligence assessments indicate that Iran has no plans to open the Strait of Hormuz in the near future, despite President Trump claiming the US could "easily" do so and earn enormous wealth.

Trump wrote on Truth Social: "With a little more time, we can easily open the Strait of Hormuz, take the oil and get rich. That would be a great benefit for the world." The American president did not specify by what means this would be achieved.

Only 225 cargo ships passed through the strait in March - a 93 percent drop compared to pre-war levels. These are mainly vessels from Iran, the UAE, India, China, and Saudi Arabia. The blockade has caused a sharp rise in global oil prices and an energy crisis in Europe.

Iran has proposed its own "Hormuz Pact" to regulate navigation, but Western powers have not accepted this framework. Analysts warn that a military attempt to forcibly open the strait risks escalating into a prolonged regional conflict.
