Iran Sharply Threatens Balkan Neighbor: There Will Be Consequences

The spokesperson of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Esmail Baghaei issued a serious warning to Romania, cautioning that Tehran will respond both politically and legally if the country allows the US to use its military bases for operations against Iran.

"If Romania makes its bases available to the US, it would be equivalent to participation in military aggression against Iran," Baghaei stated at his weekly press conference.

Baghaei emphasized that such a step would be unacceptable under international law and would entail international responsibility for Romania. He noted that "the US is exerting significant pressure on European nations," but raised the question of "whether Europe is prepared to play a constructive role in international affairs."

The warning comes after Romania's decision on March 11 to approve Washington's request for temporary deployment of American aircraft, refueling equipment, and troops on Romanian territory amid Middle East tensions.

Romania, as a NATO member and Balkan neighbor, now finds itself at the center of geopolitical pressures between Washington and Tehran.
