An Iranian drone successfully hit a target in Erbil, northern Iraq, despite an American F-15 fighter's attempt to intercept it. Footage from the incident shows the unmanned aircraft evading the fighter and completing the attack.

The video shows the F-15 chasing the Iranian drone unsuccessfully. Instead of preventing the strike, the fighter failed to stop the drone, which reportedly hit a facility belonging to a British company in Erbil province.

The incident has significant implications. Northern Iraq represents a strategically important zone of Western influence, which is why successful strikes on such targets are politically significant.

The F-15, designed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, has an exceptional combat record with over 100 aerial victories and not a single loss in combat. However, this event shows how the dynamics of modern warfare are changing.

Cheaper and more flexible drones increasingly challenge the traditional air superiority of expensive fighter aircraft. The Erbil incident may symbolize a new phase in which unmanned systems are gradually replacing conventional air superiority on the Middle Eastern battlefield.
