Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama categorically rejected the claims of opposition leader Sali Berisha that nine EU member states are blocking Albania in its European integration process. Rama stated that the truth will become clear by the end of April or early May, when he expects positive developments.

"A veto is cast by one country. If there are nine, that is not a veto, but a vote", the prime minister declared, directly accusing Berisha of spreading inaccurate information about the country's European integration process.

Rama emphasized that EU membership remains an unchangeable strategic goal for Albania, with no alternative whatsoever. He called on party structures to intensify their engagement with the reforms that are crucial for the accession process.

The prime minister explained that the EU accession process operates on two levels - the technical level, where reforms are assessed, and the political level, where decisions are made by member states through consensus. "It is enough for one country to say 'no' and the process stops. But claims that multiple vetoes exist are inaccurate", Rama added.

The Albanian prime minister expressed confidence that his party will achieve a convincing victory in the 2027 local elections, which he assessed as an important step for continuing the country's reform and European agenda.

On the other hand, Berisha announced a new mass anti-government protest campaign scheduled for April 27, as political tensions between the government and opposition in Albania continue to escalate.
