Air raid sirens sounded at approximately 3:25 in the morning at NATO's Incirlik base near Adana in southern Turkey, and a Red Alert was declared. Residents of Adana, located around 10 kilometers away, were woken in the middle of the night.

Citizens filmed video footage showing a glowing object in the sky, suggesting a possible ballistic missile aimed at the base. Turkey's state news agency confirmed that two ballistic missiles aimed at Turkey were intercepted by NATO air defense systems. Unofficial sources indicated Iran had targeted the base.

This incident occurred four days after NATO air defenses had previously shot down another ballistic missile in Turkish airspace, also attributed to Iran. Following the confirmation of the shoot-down, Turkey warned Iran against provocative actions.

The US State Department announced the closure of its consulate in Adana and called on American citizens to leave southeastern Turkey. NATO deployed additional Patriot air defense systems in the region.
