Opposition leader Peter Magyar declared the election victory as a historic mandate, announcing that they had "toppled Orban's regime, liberated Hungary and returned our homeland."

Magyar presented his vision for Hungary's future, emphasizing reconnection with the European Union and NATO, a peaceful transition of power and serious restructuring of state governance. The new government will advocate for a complete renewal of EU participation and strong Western alignment.

The election atmosphere reflected this turning point - supporters chanted "Russians, go home!" at victory celebrations in Budapest. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk joined with the same message in Hungarian: "Ruszkik haza."

Magyar announced that his first international visit as prime minister will be to Warsaw to strengthen Polish-Hungarian relations, followed by a visit to Brussels to secure approximately 17 billion euros from EU funds that had previously been frozen due to concerns about corruption and judicial independence.

The results suggest that Hungary may abandon its previous balancing approach between Western and Russian interests, moving toward closer integration with the EU and NATO under the new leadership.
