The fall of Viktor Orban in the Hungarian elections is causing strong reactions on the Macedonian political scene. The opposition SDSM has assessed that VMRO-DPMNE is left without its only ally in the European Union.

Autocratic regimes are falling. Aleksandar Vucic is next, and with him Hristijan Mickoski. The region belongs to Europe, not Russia, state the opposition party, assessing that the historic victory in Hungary sends a clear message to the entire region.

SDSM points out that after 16 years of Orban's rule, his regime has finally fallen. No more hiding of Nikola Gruevski in Budapest, secret business deals, nor Chinese money flowing through that regime, the party states.

The victory of Peter Magyar, according to SDSM, is not just the victory of one party, but a victory of democracy over autocracy, of Europe over Russian and Chinese influence, and of the rule of law over corruption.

According to preliminary results, the opposition Tisza secured a two-thirds majority with 138 seats against 55 for Fidesz, out of a total of 199 parliamentary seats.
