President Trump's peace board for Gaza has received only a small fraction of the promised 17 billion dollars, preventing the American president from proceeding with the implementation of the plan for the future of the devastated Palestinian territory, according to sources.

Ten days before the American-Israeli strikes on Iran that plunged the region into war, Trump hosted a conference in Washington where Arab Gulf states pledged billions for the management and reconstruction of Gaza after two years of Israeli destruction.

Of the ten countries that pledged funds, only three - the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, and the United States itself - actually transferred money. So far, less than 1 billion dollars has been collected. The war with Iran "affected everything," worsening previous financial difficulties.

The peace board denied the financial problems, claiming there are "no financial constraints" and that all funding requests were met "immediately and in full."

The National Committee for the Management of Gaza (NCMG), a group of US-backed Palestinian technocrats meant to take over control of Gaza from Hamas, cannot enter Gaza due to financial and security problems. According to a Palestinian official, the board informed Palestinian factions that "there is currently no available money."

Hamas has repeatedly expressed readiness to hand over governance to the NCMG. The reconstruction of Gaza, where four-fifths of buildings were destroyed during the two-year Israeli bombardment, has been estimated by global institutions at approximately 70 billion dollars.
