Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic accused Croatia and its intelligence service (SOA) of directly participating in student protests in Serbia. Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic rejected the accusations, calling them "ridiculous theses".

Vucic suggested that Croatia played a role in what his government calls an attempt at a "color revolution" - with reference to protests that erupted after the tragic collapse of the railway station canopy in Novi Sad in December 2024, which killed a large number of people.

"We have absolutely no interest as a state in interfering in Serbia's internal affairs, let alone in organizing demonstrations behind the scenes," said Plenkovic, emphasizing Croatia's commitment to regional stability.

The Croatian PM also highlighted practical reasons why such interference would be illogical: Croatia supplies 90 percent of the oil needs of the Serbian refinery in Pancevo through the JANAF pipeline. Plenkovic also rejected Vucic's claims of military coordination between Croatia, Albania and Kosovo, calling them a constructed narrative for domestic political purposes.
