Women's Day March in Skopje Against Violence and for Systemic Accountability

The initiative "Who Is Next?" organized a protest march in Skopje on the occasion of International Women's Day. The march departed at noon from the "Woman Warrior" Park — organizers called on participants to come without party insignia or institutional symbols, as this is strictly a civic initiative.

The march concluded with the laying of flowers at the monument of Vera Jocić in City Park, followed by speeches from organizers and other participants. During the walk, participants were asked to follow the instructions of marshals and not to react to any provocations.

The initiative's message is direct and stark: "This police is not our police. This state is not our state." Behind this statement lies frustration over repeated cases where institutions failed to respond adequately and in time to reported violence, leaving victims to later become statistics.

The march's motto — "So there is no next one. We will not be silent" — directly connects women victims of violence with systemic failures and demands collective accountability. Organizers called for transformation of social structures to prevent future killings and violence, not merely declarative responses after tragedies.

Today, on the occasion of March 8, similar marches were held in dozens of European cities under the motto "Rights, justice, action for all women and girls."
