China's Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the escalation of tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, after President Trump asked Beijing to send warships to secure the strategic maritime route.

Spokesperson Lin Jian described the situation as "tense" and destabilizing on a global level. "China once again calls on all parties to immediately cease military operations, avoid further escalation, and prevent the regional conflict from having even more serious consequences for global economic development," he stated.

Trump previously said he might delay the planned summit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, emphasizing that "China must help because 90 percent of its oil passes through the strait."

A Chinese diplomat confirmed that the two countries remain in contact regarding a potential Trump visit to Beijing but declined to confirm whether China had received a formal request to deploy ships.

Trump also reached out to other nations, including France, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom, to send naval forces to ensure free passage through the strait, which has been effectively closed since the start of the conflict.
