Three foreign nationals were detained in Dubai after sending photos of damage caused by an Iranian drone that struck a residential building to their families.

The residents, who were present during the attack, photographed the aftermath and privately shared the images with loved ones to confirm they were safe. Instead of offering support to the victims, authorities summoned them and demanded access to their mobile devices, according to the organization Detained in Dubai.

The legal director stated that authorities should show greater compassion toward residents who instinctively reacted during a traumatic event.

Earlier last week, a 60-year-old British national was charged under UAE cybercrime laws for recording and publishing material related to Iranian attacks in the region.

Aviation authorities in Dubai temporarily suspended flights at the international airport following the drone incident, which caused a fire nearby. No injuries were reported.
