Raul Guillermo Rodriguez Castro, grandson of former Cuban President Raul Castro, recently appeared publicly alongside current President Miguel Diaz-Canel, sparking speculation about his potential future role in Cuba's leadership.

The 41-year-old Rodriguez Castro attended high-level government meetings and press conferences, emerging from relative anonymity. His father, General Luis Alberto Rodriguez Lopez-Calleja, managed GAESA - a military-controlled business conglomerate.

According to analysts, Rodriguez Castro previously served as a bodyguard and security chief for his grandfather before transitioning into the Cuban equivalent of the Secret Service. Locally known by the nickname "Raulito," he appears positioned as a potential intermediary in ongoing negotiations with the United States.

Experts suggest that his public visibility signals either a generational shift in Cuba's leadership structure or the continued influence of the elder Castro on government affairs, particularly in connection with reported secret talks with American officials.
